I will shat my pants if we get the number 1 over all pick again ( in a good way ) this season is over and thats the best thing that can happen at this point. |

This one hit right in the feels. Really tough to face that they have to basically hit the reset button again after four plus years of selling fans on a rebuild. Hall is really the only asset they can turn into people who can play now, which is back-breaking because that means it is likely going to be a while before they are competitive.
FWIW, I've said this before but Ray and his staff have not drafted well. Its easy to pick Hischier and Hughes, and yes they get points for Boqvist and Bratt, but aside from Smith they are still overflowing with C level prospects that are not going to be anything but bit part players if that and the Zacha pick still stings. If they are going to be anything but Oilers east they have to start hitting on some draft picks. |

Its so unlikely that we would win it a 3rd time, but if we could land a top d prospect and win the lottery that would be setting us up quite nicely. With two potentially elite centers and two potentially elite d and a franchise winger. A lot of things would need to go our way for that to happen though lol.
That 3 spots seems to be the sweet spot though. The leafs won the lottery from there and so did we! |

Rebuild the rebuild.
Oilers 2.0 - KINGS67
I like Nico, Jack and Alexis alot more then Hall, Nuge and Yak so I doubt it would yeild the same end results but I guess they ended up getting Mcdavid also. |

Gronberg is probably the right guy to give a 3 to 5 year deal to and grow with the team like Hynes was suppost to. He seems like a real people person! |

When did people think the rebuild ended? With jack? Why? No issue with it taking longer, getting pieces, building a better foundation.
You all knew already Shero brought in PK and wayne to get Hall to stay, not because the rebuild was over.
This is actually good. Like Todd wrote, get rid of the old guys, UFA and stock up. |

What do we think of drafting G Yaroslav Askarov (If we don't have pick 1 or 2 for Alexis or Byfield) |

I personally was not saying NJs rebuild was over. I was just making a joke saying the one rebuild wasn’t over so F it start it over again. (New coach, draft #1, rinse and repeat. Boom, oilers 2.0) |

I dont know if I could do it. Taking a goalie that high is a gamble no matter how good they may be at 17 or 18. Its not that I wouldnt want that player but more so that I wouldnt want to be the team that past up on surer things for something that flopped.
I havent heard much talk of that Knight character since the draft. Is it because he is at college and its a lesser viewed league? or has he already been forgotten about and we are already onto the next "this is the greatest goalie prospect ever" talk? |

Hmm not sure i'd take him right after the top 2, i'd probably want to be outside of the top 5 to get him, like if we fell to 6 or 7 i would consider it. Outside of Lafreniere/Byfield i'd still probably take Holtz, Raymond, and maybe Drysdale or Perfetti over him |

No way we get the #1 overall for a 2nd year in a row (3 of the last 4). I can't believe we'd be that lucky. |

Its pretty unlikely but it would be desperately needed lol
They say Lafrienier missed last years draft by just a little and would have gave Hughes a run for number 1. I think it was Button or Mckenzie who said that.
I think he could walk in and be pretty similiar to Eichel but a Winger. |

At least we're not the Panthers with Bobrovsky right now. What a disaster |

Top 4-5 pick isn't a bad place to be in. You get another strong player and then we have a free agency period to add as well. This team is bad but has a lot more talent on it than is given credit. Coaching has derailed the entire thing. |

If we end 30th, how far in the lotto can we drop? |

Riley Walsh and Ty Smith will both be another year closer to making an impact on our blue line ! |

3 spots I believe is as far as you can drop if I am not mistaken ?
I know 1 can drop to 4 and 2 to 5 and 3 to 6 after that im not sure how its affected... |

It's always 3 spots unless we're 2 or less away from the playoff cutoff. |

Yeah it's always the worst case scenario being 3 teams with less odds than you jumping in the order due to the lotto |

Im pretty sure the Wings have dropped each year in positioning. Which is obviously very disappointing. |

I said it earlier but that 3 hole seems to be a sweet spot as the Leafs and us both have won it fron there. |
